Dr. Albena D. Halpert is a gastroenterologist at Pentucket Medical Associates in Haverhill, MA and Assistant Professor in the Section of Gastroenterology at the Boston University School of Medicine in Boston, MA. Dr. Halpert received her Doctor of Medicine degree from Charles University School of Medicine in Prague, Czech Republic. She then completed gastroenterology fellowships at St. Louis University in St. Louis, MO and at the Center for Functional Gastrointestinal Disorders at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, NC.
Dr. Halpert’s clinical and research interests include the management of functional gastrointestinal and motility disorders such as irritable bowel syndrome, dyspepsia, constipation, and fecal incontinence. Other areas of interest include antidepressant treatment in IBS, patient education, and the patient–physician relationship.
She is a member of the American Gastroenterological Association, the American College of Gastroenterology, and the International Foundation for Functional Gastrointestinal Disorders.
