Dr. Adil E. Bharucha is a graduate of King Edward VII Memorial Hospital in Bombay, India. He trained in internal medicine and gastroenterology at Mayo Clinic. He is board certified in gastroenterology and specializes in motility disorders, chronic constipation, dyspepsia and gastroparesis, pelvic floor dysfunction, and fecal incontinence. At Mayo Clinic, Dr. Bharucha is a Professor of Medicine, Director of the Motility Interest Group, and Director of the Office of Clinical Trials.
His research, which is funded by the National Institutes of Health, investigates the epidemiology, pathophysiology, and management of anorectal and pelvic floor disorders, diabetic enteropathy, dyspepsia, irritable bowel syndrome, and chronic constipation.
Dr. Bharucha is a paid consultant of Allergan and is being provided funding from Allergan in exchange for his participation as a member on the IBS CounSEL.
